Omeo, Victoria – Rich in History

Witness Omeo Victoria and it’s stunning scenery on the edge of the Snowy Mountains, along the great alpine road. The township is renowned for its gold mining history, historic buildings, cattle grazing and has excellent 4×4 tracks a stones throw from town.

Omeo Victoria can be found 420km east of Melbourne and within the shire of Bairnsdale. The Town itself offers accommodation, rich history, fuel and essentials to restock before heading bush.

Omeo Victoria Great Meeting Point

Omeo is an excellent base and meeting point before setting off to explore surrounding area’s. It is approx 700 metres above sea level in the Victorian High Country. This is evident in winter as temperatures are greatly below average and is not unusual to witness a snowfall.

Omeo offers a wide range of activities such as visiting history site, fishing, horse riding and of course excellent 4×4 opportunities. Trout can be found in great numbers in the small streams and creeks. As Rex Hunt would say ‘if you cant step over it, fish it’.
